about

This is a collection of songs I've written recorded at my good friend (and guitar/producer extraordinaire) James Kerridge's studio called, Dog Factory Studios. It's located out in the country hills of Washougal, WA.

I can't recall an evening of recording that was ever less than fun. With Maker's Mark, Vodka tonics, micro brews, and smokes of various degrees, of course it was fun.

Some of my favorite recordings ever came from these nights - and most of those are these tracks.

Some of these songs were recorded when I first started singing, so get your cringe face ready... they'll getcha!

Track Name: Always Keep Your Light On
Wake up, breath in. It's enough to begin again
Scrape off yesterday's sin-cerely faults belong to no one. Only the sun can outshine your love.

So I'm calling out to the hilltops, "Show me tears before I fall!" and forget to finish this song; before short turns into long. Oh, no no.

But always, always keep your light on
always, always yeah

My dame is writing her chapters as I'm writing her into mine. She's a stranger in line, we're stuck doing... oh

Smoke rolling out the alleys like ghost from the old 80's movies I watched when I was seven.

But you were always, always keepin' your light on
always, always keep your light on

Outro medley...

Two cigarettes and a breathless chest I walk under the umbrella of fall. But without you I don't know why I walk at all.

Always, always keep your light on
Always, always keep your light on
There will be times, you'll be giving up the fight, but I will shine on you.
And every night you're sinking down and drowning, oh there will be someone feeling the same as you do.

Two cigarettes and a breathless chest I walk under the umbrella of fall.
But without you I don't know why I walk at all.
Track Name: Queen of Machinery
You were the queen of machinery
Knives held no piercing ability
A part of this I looked forward to becoming
My flesh was always taking up retreat

Mapped out discussions on foreign policy
You were always armed to the teeth
I mostly played along as a fantasy
My best was always in jest you see

I'd take it all back for one photograph
of you and me, before our cowardly retreat

Pedalstals are almost always imaginary
I'd placed you on quite the highest one
well for that I do take up responsibility
the mirror of these words is harrowing
It haunts my dreams

I'd take it all back for one photograph
of you and me, before our cowardly retreat

Oh lonesome love, come back to me
Unconditionally, I'll stay fit to sing you're melody and story...
Track Name: Waiting For The Snow
My eyes are on fire, she's lighting up the sunrise
burning holes in what I thought I had inside

Whip! Crack! my heart open for the whole world to see
There's really nothing more frightening

Talk of life and death over our latest breakfast
Chapters and lies that are fading slowly so our eyes
Gaze then catch, it's a lock - Still I must remain slow...
I've been known to over romanticize life

We're waiting for the snow
To cover all our favorite roads
That's when we'll find our home, Our home...
With hardwood floors that freeze our toes in the evening, and I'm in love!
Track Name: Like Two Kids
Where are you going? Am I laggin' behind?
We all get lost sometimes...
You say something missing, we’ll of course it is.
There are no actors in this room

I loved you, and you loved me too
Like two kids who would play all afternoon
But when the sun leaves us and ends our day
Our love will remain, our love will remain...

Seeing you in your summer dress
Taking a stroll around the lake
With eyes bright enough to melt mine
We're sippin' right from the vine
Tears that stain our lives - we just can't hide

The autumn has fallen
Your eyes have darkened

I loved you, and you loved me too
Like two kids who play all afternoon
But when the sun leaves us and ends our day
Our love will remain

I loved you, and you loved me too
Like two kids who play all afternoon
But when the sun leaves us and ends our dream
Our dream...
Track Name: Little Love
She stole me at 14
A blindside to the knees
She didn't have nothing to say, but I love you
That's all I needed

She was my little love
Always kept me looking up
In a world only we shared
Where we could keep our dreams
And stay there

But, as time moves along and you realize something's wrong
All these things would soon be gone... gone

I've tried to always play it cool
My only exception's for you
I knew how much you loved my clumsiness to show on through

But it's all becoming clear
With the older we appear
We know less about the face of love

When I could move mountains if you'd like
Or sit with a book by my side
I would take you on a late-night drive
Keep them turning 'til sunrise

But if we happen to run into a situation
Where we could be more than friends
I'd only ask once and hope for an honest response
I know you'd choose the right one

I'm sorry for still holding on
You've let me know you're held with new arms
I can't let you go, but I'll surely leave you alone

But it's all becoming clear
With the older we appear
We know less about the face of love

When I could move mountains if you'd like
Or sit with a book by my side
I could change the course of my whole life
If it'd bring you back to my side

Cause even now I'll fantasize
About those cold and long Washougal nights
Locked up in linens of white
I didn't question the fruits of my life

I fought and I tried to keep you satisfied
But now I know there's just no pleasing you
As time goes by I'm losing the strength to fight
Oh, why must it take so much to realize?
Track Name: Oh, Come November
Oh, my ears have heard the sound
A whisper along the hillside
Asking me to keep belting out
When the canyon can't speak for herself

Everyday my heart shifts it's shape
From new born to a wrecking ball
I throw stones until I cry
And my eyes gaze on open lies

Oh, come November we'll be singing drunken songs
To regain a voice that belonged
Once only to the young and in love
Perched on the mantle of what was

I keep an hour-glass resting by
My mirror to remind me how soon beauty fades
I'll flip it back over when the mirror finally breaks

Oh, but your eyes, they reflect mine
Just like being a boy, left in the dark
Only with his last thoughts

Oh come April we'll be swimming under moonlight
Tucked between sheets just before the mounting sunrise
And out of our coma's by lunch time
Track Name: Pacific Home
I like me down here
It's taken me years to figure that out - self-sabatoge

My room's a junkyard
A haven for hiders of sunlight
We are the God's of wine

Can you remember driving just outside North Dakota
Leaking AC drown the floorboards of our old Chrystler
We had our whole life on a convoy
Drivin' down that long road all the way to the west coast
Our new Pacific Home

I like you up there
A lighthouse to guide my footsteps home
We're never really alone

I'm walking down the road
The concrete face of life is moonlit tonight

Can you remember driving just outside North Dakoda
Leaking AC drown the floorboards of that old Chrystler
We had our whole life on a convoy
Following the road all the way to the west coast
Our new Pacific Home
Track Name: Yellow In The Fall
There's no truth at all - only reasons to reflect on
If we, like leaves, turned yellow in the fall
Would the moon still pull the ocean's weight?

There's just something about a song
Sneaks passed our mental blocks
(weaves itself around your heart)
Goose-bumps are what I miss the most
About growing into a leathered adult

I'm asking, is feeling believing?
(Oh yeah, oh yeah)
Feeling holds us, like a child
It's what we find most endearing in our lives
It can spark the purest of a smile
Or the most brutal of hate crimes

In the alley sits my old friend, me
Holding fast to the shadow of a scene (Ah, who...?)
